Practical experiments…

Below are some practical experiments I have conducted with products/objects. The focus on this series of images is food and drink. All of the ‘Before’ images have been taken with the following settings on a camera:

ISO 200

Light metre reading as close to zero as possible

BEFORE IMAGE: 

– Taken in natural daylight setting

– No major adjustments on the camera

AFTER: Photoshop adjustments 

– Exposure adjusted on photoshop

– Brightness adjusted on the baked beans using lasso selection tool

– Colour of plate had been whitened

– Areas on the certain beans have been made more prominent by airbrushing the colour red into them.

BEFORE: 

– Image is also blacked out

– Plate is barely visible

AFTER:

– Good part of the image above has been selected dragged and dropped onto the foreground of this image

– Edges have been airbrushed around the can and onto the table

– Brightness & contrast altered

– Exposure balanced out

– Certain areas of the foreground been have been highlighted with a red

SEASONABLE BEER MADE GLAMOURISED…

BEFORE: 

– No artificial lighting used.

– Only natural daylight

AFTER:

– Brightness and contrast raised

– Exposure balanced

– Botton part where glass is iced has been sharpened

– Iced droplet look at top of bottle has been layered on

– Blue sky has been airbrushed in

– Refection of blue sky on pint glass has been airbrushed in

 

HEALTH FOODS MADE TO LOOK BAD…

BEFORE:

– Combination of the two images used to make the after shot’

– Settings on camera not changed to any other previous image

AFTER:

– The background has been brightened to convey a clean bright healthy kitchen

– The skin of the apple has been decayed

– Banana skin texture used to layer on top of apple skin promoting mould growth
